Performance would simply slow to a crawl. Total Annihilation is one of the most moddable games there is, with already more than 2918 custom units, one hundred mods (including TA:Mutator mods). Even when playing on a modern system, it's still possible for it to slow down to a crawl toward the end because the game basically runs completely within one thread. I always hoped that they would eventually release an updated version some day, that could perhaps take advantage of multiple cores. Supposed leaked picture of the third Black Ops map pack, Annihilation. Ok, heres the Total Annihilation: Twilight - Map Pack v1.0. It seems like the sort of game that should be able to take advantage of that. It will feature 4 new multiplayer maps called: Hangar 18, Drive in, Silo and Hazard. Its large, about 460MB, and contains 129 maps. This essentially covers the Finnish players map pack (Torrent) that they released awhile back, as well as the TA Legacy map collection I came across awhile ago. I skimmed through them all with a map editor, weeding out the ones that were. Mappy is a modern map editor for Total Annihilation, seeking to replace the current community favourite, Annihilator. I'd love to see what sort of epic battle I could manage using all 24 threads of my 3900X. Annihilator is the most well-known and widely used map editor, but in many cases Mappy is better. Heres some of the benefits youll enjoy: Full undo and redo support. Ability to drag features after placing them. Not to mention, a smarter AI would be nice also.
